About The Velvet Bandit
In March of 2020, this single mom of two who was working as a lunch lady at a middle school suddenly become unemployed with nothing but her art supplies to keep her sane–and the perfect opportunity to finally fulfill her dream of starting a mom graffiti gang.
Each “pasteup” is individually hand-painted and hand cut, with no two being exactly alike. These brightly colored, quirky pieces of artwork can be found all over Sonoma County in Northern California, up into Washington, down to Laguna Beach, and some in the far reaches of Texas and across to New York. Her dream is to someday have her art in every major US city.
As part of her mission of connecting to others through her art and her passion for social justice, it only makes sense to give back to the community by donating a portion of art sales every month to a different organization that is making a difference to make this world a better place. Some of the organizations this lunch lady has been fortunate enough to have been able to give donations to with the help of people like you include The North Bay Organizing Project, Equal Justice Initiative, Together Rising, End Citizens United, Fund Texas Choice, World Central Kitchen as well as several GoFundMe’s for individuals in need. From the bottom of this mama’s heart, I thank you.
